Hi All! I was at two protests Sunday. People were eager to get out and show their anger at ICE and a government that murders, then maligns to excuse their agents of intimidation. Rest In Peace RENEE NICOLE GOOD
Real patriots were not intimidated. In Closter, we were 75 people. And, they were ready to show up with really short notice. I posted and emailed about the protest less than 24 hrs. before our 11:30 start time.
In Closter, so many people came early! We were united in our outrage, just too heavy on top of the ruins of the last many, many months that seem like years. We needed to protest, because there’s something cathartic and performative about it that feeds the spirit. And, many were happy to go to Westwood afterward. It was a small distance to go for more resistance. Some drivers may have seen us twice.
That’s why protesting makes maga so angry. Even angrier than when we ignore them. Big shout out to the woman who brought her guitar and led protest songs! (I apologize for not knowing your name.) She also went to Westwood and did the same there. If you have some performance art in you, bring it along next time and get some kudos! We’ll love you no matter, and will not pelt you with fruits, as we must leave the site clean.
There were easily 100 people at Westwood. At Westwood, the sidewalk was packed, and there were young people there! What a breath of fresh air! We need more young people with us. Please put that on your list! There was a man in a maga hat, who appeared to be videoing us from across the street. The entire hour I was there. Not sure if it was to expose us or impress us with his iCloud storage.

PLEASE BELIEVE THIS:
We were out in numbers, all over the country, making a noisy, peaceful spectacle—playful, serious, even sinister—in spite of knowing that any one of us can be harassed, threatened, arrested, harmed, or even killed for exercising our rights. What does that tell us?
THAT WE WILL WIN!

We need to be out there, even in Winter.
In Winter:
Make a plan to attend two protests a month with local groups
In Spring:
Make a plan to attend four protests a month with local groups
These are regular, local protests:Teaneck has a weekly Wednesday protest, 3:30 to 4:30, corner of Teaneck Rd. and Cedar Lane. (Will check time.)
Nanuet has a weekly Saturday protest, 12 to 1 pm, Rt. 59 and Middletown Rd.
Closterpatriots will have regular protests, frequency to be determined by the group’s response.
The vaunted tipping point is 11 million of us out there, with No Kings being the decider. Encourage people to come protest with you. Ask your adult kids to come with you, a timid neighbor, a closet extrovert.
Wake Up NJ, a maga page on X, made mention of a sign I carried, “They can kill you, too”. * I leapt out of my comfy chair to make that sign. I’m usually slow and steady, so if I’m a-leapin’, something’s going on! Somebody on Wake Up NJ thought so, too. Somebody said I’m pissing off the right people.
Taking inadvertent compliments,
Bonnie
