Hi All! The Republicans have their noses just above water, so our job is to make waves 24/7/365. Republicans must be made to defend the indefensible to widen the cracks in the regime. Showing up is the first thing. These are the weekly actions, all on closterpatriots.bsky.social.
Please comment on the posts you’ve taken action on. It’s good to have an idea who’s in or out in this fight, and a way to build community. If you have other outlets, ways, and means, please share them. It’s not possible to do too much at this juncture, so let’s go for overkill.
New Jersey Superfund Act
This is a time-sensitive action. Please give it your support. Climate action is among the most important in the triage of important actions.

Ending Citizens United
84% of Americans now say the rich have too much political power.Advocates are calling for a Constitutional amendment to clarify that Constitutional rights are for individuals, not corporations, and to regulate political contributions.Additionally, supporting legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act and the DISCLOSE Act can help increase transparency and reduce the influence of money in politics. SCOTUS accountability
Efforts for Supreme Court accountability include proposals for an enforceable code of conduct, term limits for justices, and increased transparency regarding conflicts of interest and recusal decisions. Advocacy groups are pushing for reforms to ensure justices are held to ethical standards similar to those in other branches of government. (We’ll have a letter to send to the errant Justices soon.)

Republican accountability
Rage on the page! Send the shaming letters written for the 53 Republican senators to Booker and Kim, and ask them to carry the message to their peers in the Senate. Send the letter to Gottheimer and ask him to carry the message to his peers in the House. I’ve already sent this to our three reps in Congress. It might be cathartic to write what you want, instead. Censure is the least these rogues can expect. Do this!
Dear ________,
Please share this message with your Republican peers.
“To the Republicans in the Senate and House: You have failed your oath of office by putting your party and a corrupt, incompetent president before your country and constituents. You knowingly weaken democracy, allow appointed officials to dictate policy, and have supported great harms to our institutions and those you represent. You’ve made politics into a culture war instead of what it should be—in service to a government interested in protection of and care for its citizens. You acquiesce while our rights are trampled and wait for more to come. You watch while our economy has been systematically undermined and broken, and you fail to act. You have a lot to answer for, and I hope you do.”

No war with Venezuela
Win Without War is a national grassroots organization that works with elected officials, policymakers, media, advocacy organizations, and movement leaders to promote and advance a values-based progressive national security strategy that prioritizes human security and diplomacy over war.
In addition to signing a petition with Win Without War, you should send your thoughts on the Venezuela problem to Booker, Kim, and Gottheimer. Paraphrase what you read in WWW, and you’ll have a great letter! They need to hear from us, need to know what we think and want, need the proof that we, the people, are against starting a war anywhere, much less in our hemisphere.

Our Dem hope for the House, Aftyn Behn, lost last night in Tennessee. Too bad! She came within 9 points of Matt Van Epps, a good showing! Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson personally stumped for Van Epps in TN-7, while Behn was backed by former Vice Presidents Al Gore and Kamala Harris, as well as Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Pramila Jayapal.
Closing thought:
As we know, doorways have magical powers. A person who walks through one instantly forgets why they did so. “What did I come in here for?”, is said by millions daily. When you entered the space of resistance, by protesting or otherwise being part of a grassroots movement, you entered this space for a purpose. Don’t forget it now that you see the work to be done.
It’s really the gift of a lifetime, to fight for our country without leaving home to do it. Think of the millions who died worlds away to keep America America. I don’t know how I’ll feel if I lose that America. And, we are the line of defense.
I hope that you do not forget what you came in here for.
Bonnie
