“Every protest needs Safety Leads”–Bonnie
Hi All! It’s time to start planning and training for the 3/28/26 No Kings3, in Closter. I received an email requesting information on Safety Leads today. So, I’m reaching out for volunteers for that role on 3/28/26.
At the No Kings, in October, we had only two Safety Leads, because I wasn’t expecting between 850 and 1,000 people. I’m a little concerned that we may have more than that on 3/28, so I want six Safety Leads. It may seem like a lot, but it took me seven minutes to walk the entire protest line last time. We have to have Leads available in a lot less time than that!
There is training for Safety Leads. I’ll give you the links. Not time-consuming; a lot of common sense; not complicated at all. You’ll be plainly marked as a Safety Lead, by wearing yellow and by the ID tags you make for yourself. Do bring a whistle, as that could be useful.
I had two women as Safety Leads last time. I’d like to see a man or three this time.We need you! Please step up. Vounteers, please let me know asap.
A protest in every town in Bergen County
For those of you who might like to (that means should) start a regular protest in your town, host a No Kings3! Post it on mobilize.us, and you’ll have a mailing list to support ongoing protests over the summer, when we must be out there nonstop. It’s not a big deal. If I can do it, you can, too. I had about six weeks of experience doing protests when I did No Kings, but I held my breath and went for it. It changed everything!
Does your town have the area to contain 100 protesters? 1,000? Whatever space you have, fill it up! You can cap the number of protesters on the mobilize.us site. Keep it low, if you’re concerned. Don’t worry that there may be nearby No Kings. Plus, you’ll have made a showing where there had been no protests before. Our reach and our grasp have to equal each other in this endeavor. Go for it!
The next 8.5 months are our last chance for a long while to push back and deny this regime its treasured goal of stealing the most powerful country on Earth. Let’s not lose sight of this. Without winning majorities in the House and Senate next midterms, we’ll be on the table instead of at it.I say this all the time, because it’s true. If I’d had to interview for this work, I’d have been shown the door. I have a 79-year-old brain, with a low threshold for stress, which crosses all my dang wires. I have puny tech skills that seem resistant to instruction. I’m s-l-o-w. I’d rather have needles stuck in my eyes, which may also be in my future.
Put away your fears and doubts! You have no idea what you can achieve when you need to. Creativity and problem-solving are skills that build on themselves. You’ve been solving problems all your life! You need to do that now, for your country. It seems sentimental and drippy to write that, but we cannot let these people stroll in and steal our country without a huge fight. This is that fight! Just do it, darlings!
