I’m always writing to you. Now, I want you to write to me.
Positive Possum Believes You Can Do The Thing!*
Hi All! When I host rallies, people talk to me. They tell me how this administration has changed and reshaped their lives. People tell me about what they’ve seen and the experiences of people they know, with ICE, with family, with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. We need to know that we’re having common experiences, so the ring of truth can soothe us, show us how to work together. That will make the sharing worthwhile.
I’m going to start a page on my website, closterpatriots.org, where I’ll present these shared experiences during the shock and grief of a hostile takeover. I believe this will build community, offer support, steel resolve, and foster healing.
Stories can be signed Anonymous or signed with your first name and last initial, or just your initials. I’d like you to share your age.
Please send me your story! Let me know what is your experience, whether working with people as a professional or empathizing with the situations of your neighbors, friends, and family who have been touched by the policies and cruelty of this administration, and if and how they have moved you to act.
What are your fears and hopes? How are you dealing with them? Do you have people with whom you can talk about them?
Does anything keep you from doing what you’d like to do to fight back? What is the limit of your comfort with involvement?
Are you working with people who are apathetic to the loss of rights and government overreach? Is it a hostile atmosphere? How do you handle that?
Do you own or work at a business where you have to walk a fine line and bite your tongue to keep customers?
Tell us if you’ve protested anywhere, if you’ve protested at Delaney Hall, what you’ve seen and experienced there, and the the stories you’ve been told by other protesters.
Tell us what you are doing, whether writing postcards, attending meetings, or supporting organizers in any way.
Write about how your responses and actions have surprised you, what you learned about yourself, and how that has affected you and your relationships.
Write about what people you know are doing, and why they’re doing it.
Tell us about any problems you or anyone you know is having with family and friends over political division.
Write why you want to share your experiences and what it means to you to lift the hopes and possibilities of others who would be heartened by them.
I’m not sure what I’ll name the page. Please feel free to tell me what name you’d like for the page. These are what I’ve come up with so far:
People Are Talking . . ., American Stories, Notes From The Field, Tales Of The Resistance, Our Stories. Get your creative juices going and tell me what you come up with. I know I’ll be surprised and delighted!
Living in Hope!
